Back to 'Our team'

Andrew is a solicitor at Wesley Gryk Solicitors LLP who joined the firm in January 2019. Andrew’s practice covers a wide range of immigration, asylum and nationality matters.

Andrew regularly assists clients to make applications for parents and partners applying to enter or extend their stay in the United Kingdom. He also has experience with applications for asylum, British citizenship for adults and children and status under the EU Settlement Scheme. Andrew successfully challenges Home Office decisions in the Immigration and Asylum Tribunals and by judicial review.

Recent work and notable cases

  • Won appeal against a Home Office decision in which the client was wrongly accused of deceiving the Home Office by relying on a fraudulent English language test
  • Won appeals for same-sex couples, satisfying the Tribunal that there were “insurmountable obstacles” to their family life continuing outside of the UK
  • Applied for judicial review for a client whose application for indefinite leave to remain was wrongly refused due to an allegation of falsely declaring his earnings to HMRC; assisted the client to reply to the subsequent ‘Minded to Refuse’ notice before he was eventually granted indefinite leave to remain
  • Assisted clients to successfully apply for endorsements under the Global Talent scheme, especially from Arts Council England
  • Assisted the parents of a child born through an overseas surrogacy arrangement to secure British citizenship for the child
  • Successfully obtained visas for spouses and fiancées of British citizens
  • Assisted small companies to apply for sponsorship licences and sponsor migrant staff for Skilled Worker visas
  • Assisted the adult children of refugees to join their family in the United Kingdom through the refugee family reunion process
